What Barry says

Barry says he made up the introduction to Sidewinder, which was later used in a commercial, yet he never got anything from it. With residuals from that, he says, he could be in good shape; jazz musicians get very few royalties.

Asked by Ted Panken whether he recorded with Lee Morgan too, Barry says yes, a couple of times. The question comes as he recalls his early New York work with Yusef Lateef, Wes Montgomery, Charles McPherson and Lonnie Hillyer.

In his own words

I made up the introduction to... Sidewinder, and that was used as a commercial... I never got anything from that... If I could have gotten some residuals from that, I could be in good shape.
