What Barry says
Hoping his coming concerts will sell out the way rock concerts do, Barry says he hopes Madonna is listening: since she is from Detroit, she might come to a jazz concert and see what music is really about.
She reminds him of the old shake dancers he used to have to play for, except that she does it to rock and roll. He recalls one such dancer, captioned as Baby Scrugs, for whom the band played Cherokee as fast as it could.
He sums her up as something like a stripper, who belongs in a strip-tease joint.

In his own words
I hope that Madonna is listening. Maybe she might want to come to a jazz concert and see what music really is about.
It’s so weird about people like Madonna, she reminds me of one of them old shake dancers. We used to have to play for the shake dancers
Madonna sort reminds me of a stripper. You know, like, that’s about what it amounts to.
