People Barry talks about

Alvin Jackson

bass

Alvin Jackson was a Detroit bassist, a brother of the vibraphonist Milt Jackson; the captions suggest Barry named him as possibly the bassist in the trio he had with Elvin Jones.

What Barry says

Trying to remember the bassist in his Detroit trio with Elvin Jones, after Elvin left the Army, Barry rules out Ali Jackson (the newer transcript hears ‘Ollie’) and says it might have been one of the Jacksons (both transcripts say ‘Elvin Jackson’; most likely Alvin), or else Will Austin. He does not settle it, saying only that a lot of musicians could play.
