What Barry says
After recalling how the interviewer, the pianist Aaron Graves, used to come from Washington to the Jazz Cultural Theater and go back each night, Barry says Rich Clements is like that too: with him all the way, at choir rehearsal and in class. Barry feels lucky that at least a few people who can play come to his class.

At the 2020 Jazz Congress, Barry thanks the online fundraiser that got him home, apparently from Italy. The small private plane cost 66,000 dollars and carried two doctors, Richard Clements, the pilot and the co-pilot, stopping to refuel in Iceland and in Canada.
In his own words
I’ve got one other like that, Rich Clements is like that, you know. He’s with me all the way, he’ll be at choir rehearsal, you know, he’ll be in the class.
I’ll tell you what it cost to get me here. $66,000. I had to have a private plane with two doctors, Richard [Clements], the pilot and the co-pilot.
